    Indiana Defeats Athletes In Action

    Bloomington, IN-Senior Larry Richardson and sophomore Kirk Haston each tallied 16 points to help lead the Hoosiers to a 100-85 exhibition win over Athletes in Action.

    Indiana outscored AIA 55-46 in the second half, after opening up a 45-39 lead at the intermission. A total of five Indiana players scored in double figures, including three off the bench. Sophomore Dan Fife (11 points) joined Haston as the two starters scoring in double figures. Freshman Kyle Hornsby, sophomore Jarrad Odle and Richardson all come off the bench to account for 13 points apiece.

    Indiana opened the game on a 17-3 run led by six points from freshman Jeffrey Newton. The Hoosiers maintained a double-digit lead for much of the first half. AIA pulled within five (36-31) on a jumper from Craig Brown, but the Hoosiers responded with the game's next five points and opened up an 11-point lead with 1:34 to play on a layup from Newton.

    AIA closed out the half with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to six as the two teams headed to the locker room.

    Th Hoosiers pushed the lead back into double-digits early in the second half and opened up as much as a 20-point lead with 5:54 to play.

    Indiana shot 54.8 percent from the floor and the Hoosiers held AIA to 43.1 percent. Richardson led the Hoosiers with 10 rebounds and Michael Lewis dished out a game-high seven assists. Indiana as a team had 26 assists.

    A.J. Guyton finished the game with nine points while fellow starter Lynn Washington netted six points. Newton rounded out the starting lineup and had eight points and a game-high three steals. Lewis came off the bench and contributed five points. Tom Geyer tallied a pair of points and Tom Coverdale rounded out the scoring with a free-throw.

    The Hoosiers play host to Marathon Oil in the final exhibition game of the season on Friday, November 12 at 8 p.m.
