    THE OPENING TIP
Indiana is in its 112th season of college basketball and will travel to the new Ford Center in Evansville to take on the Purple Aces on Wednesday, Nov. 16. The Hoosiers are 2-0 for the fifth straight year and are coming off a 78-53 win over Chattanooga on Sunday evening. Evansville won its season-opener at home, 80-77, over Butler in overtime.

Including exhibition games, this will be the fourth game in 26 days during the month of November to start the season. The Hoosiers will be returning home to take on Savannah State and Gardner-Webb in the Hoosier Invitational. The Hoosiers return 93.3 percent of their scoring with 2,078 of 2,226 points returning.

    THE COACHES
Indiana named Tom Crean as its 28th men's basketball coach on April 2, 2008, and is entering his fourth year with the Hoosiers. Has is 220-162 all-time as a head coach and picked up wins over No. 18 Illinois and No. 20 Minnesota last season, his first against ranked opponents at Indiana. He came to Indiana from Marquette where he was 190-96 (66.4) in nine seasons and made five NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2003 Final Four.

Marty Simmons is entering his fifth season as the head coach at Evansville and has an overall record of 52-72 with the Purple Aces. Simmons was a member of the Indiana men's basketball team from 1983-85 and finished his collegiate playing career at Evansville.

    QUICK HITS
This will be Indiana's third trip to Evansville. The Hoosiers won 39-32 in a game in 1935 and 76-48 in December, 1995. Last year, Indiana defeated Evansville, 67-54, in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers held Chattanooga to 27.0 percent shooting from the floor and notched 15 steals against the Mocs.

Indiana has shot 57.8 percent from the field, 43.8 percent from 3-point range and 76.4 percent from the free throw line.

Sophomore guard Victor Oladipo was named Big Ten Player of the Week after he averaged 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds and was the team's top defender. He had a career-high 21 points against Chattanooga and matched his previous career-high with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting against Stony Brook. Oladipo is the first Hoosier to be honored by the league since D.J. White was named Co-Player of the Week on February 4, 2008.

Freshman forward Cody Zeller was named Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week after he averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals. He set an IU freshman mark with six steals against Chattanooga. He posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds against Stony Brook. Zeller is the first Hoosier to receive that honor since the award was recently instituted.

Sophomore forward Will Sheehey has led the Hoosiers off the bench with 13 against Stony Brook and six against Chattanooga.

Senior guard Verdell Jones III had 16 points and a career-high four steals against Chattanooga. It was his 58th game in double-digits.

Junior forward Derek Elston gave Indiana four scorers in double figures against Stony Brook with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. The junior forward had two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 14 minutes.
