IU To Be Part of ESPN's College Basketball Special
November 26, 2003
Bloomington, Ind.-- The Indiana men's basketball team will take part in the season-long celebration for 25 seasons of college basketball on ESPN.
ESPN will commemorate its 25th season of college basketball by presenting a season-long celebration of the sport that has been a foundation of the network since its launch. Through a series of special segments, events, countdowns and lists, ESPN and ESPN2 will look back at the past 25 seasons of college basketball. Heading into this season, ESPN and ESPN2 had combined to televise 5, 728 NCAA men's and women's college basketball games.
Indiana will join in the celebration on Saturday, Jan. 31 when participate in the "Turn Back the Clock" Game. The Hoosiers will take on Michigan State in East Lansing at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN. The Hoosier/Spartan match up will be presented in vintage style to resemble the look of the 1979-80 season (ESPN's first year). For example, during the game, players will dress in uniforms from that season; ESPN commentators will wear clothes from that era; production elements such as on-air graphics will reflect the 1979 look and more.
Other plans for the 25 seasons of ESPN college basketball celebration are: flashback segments in every regular-season men's and women's game telecast, top 25 basketball moments in ESPN history and silver anniversary teams--all conference men's teams from the past 25 years.
