    Tyler Altman saw action in four games in 2005 (Central Michigan, Minnesota, at Michigan and Purdue). Altman saw considerable action on special teams, and he returned an onside kick 21 yards at Central Michigan. After redshirting in 2003, Altman saw action in three games for the Hoosiers in 2004 and played a season-high seven snaps in season opener against Central Michigan. He saw four snaps of game action against both Illinois and Penn State.

    He led his high school team with 112 tackles and was a unanimous first-team Quad South selection at linebacker in 2001, earning a spot on the PrepStar All-Region team. Rivals.com tabbed Altman as the 23rd-best player coming out of the state of Pennsylvania and the No. 40 defensive end in the nation. He grew up in San Diego, Calif., before moving to Latrobe when he was 12. He was forced to miss his senior season with a partially torn ACL that he suffered while being a three-sport athlete at Greater Latrobe High. Altman had surgery on his leg in mid-September of 2002.

    Born on Feb. 21, 1985, Altman is majoring in sports marketing and management.
