Adam Hines closed his college career in 2005 by starting 45 straight games. This matches former IU All-American and current Pittsburgh Steeler Antwaan Randle El for the most consecutive starts by a Hoosier since 1999. In addition, Hines played a team-high 851 offensive snaps.
Hines started all 11 games for the Hoosiers in 2004; starting the first four games at left guard before an injury to Isaac Sowells forced him to play the final seven contests at left tackle. He closed the year fourth on the team with 756 snaps under his belt and was on the field for 60 or more snaps in all 11 games and 70 or more snaps on nine occasions. Hines played a season-high 99 snaps from the offensive side of the ball at Northwestern.
Hines played more snaps (969) than any other Hoosier during the 2003 season. He started all 12 games during his sophomore season at left guard.
He started six times at the right guard position and four times at the left guard slot as a true freshman. After not playing in Indiana's first game against William and Mary, Hines played in the team's next 11 games and started the final 10 games of the season.
The Vandalia, Ohio, native played a total of 560 snaps of game action in 2002. He did not play in the opener, but saw 30 or more snaps in every game after that. Hines played a season-high 93 snaps against Iowa. He was one of just three true freshmen with over 500 snaps in 2002 and the lone true freshman to play on the offensive line for the Hoosiers.
He saw his first collegiate action in game two against Utah and saw action in 41 snaps. His play against the Utes resulted in his first start the following week at Kentucky. He started against the Wildcats at right guard and stayed at that position against Central Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin. In the seventh game of the season, Hines moved to left guard and started there against the Hawkeyes, at Illinois, at Northwestern and at home against Michigan State. Hines returned to the right guard spot for the final two games of the year against Penn State and Purdue.
Hines came to Indiana from Butler High School. He earned All-Midwest honors from PrepStar and was rated the 99th offensive guard by Rivals.com. He was a two-time Great Western League, two-time all-area, two-time all-district and a second team all-state selection at Butler.
The son of Garland and Gayle Hines was born February 1, 1984 and has a sister.
