    Linebacker Casey Nowinski played in 10 games in 2005, primarily on special teams. He returned an onside kick six yards against Wisconsin. Nowinski played in 11 games during the 2004 season, mainly on special teams. He played a season-high 15 of his 103 snaps at Kentucky.

    A former high school all-state wide receiver, Nowinski was moved to linebacker by the Indiana coaching staff. He played in 11 games in 2003, primarily on special teams. He played 75 snaps during the season, including a career-high 35 at Minnesota. He had two tackles against the Golden Gophers.

    Nowinski was a 2001 all-state wide receiver for Class 3A while at Andrean High School. He was a 2002 Biomet IFCA North Indiana High School All-Star and a finalist for The Indiana Football Guide's Class 3A Player of the Year award. Nowinski, a walk-on, had 11 catches for 193 yards and two touchdowns against Hobart for the 13th-best single-game mark in the state that year.
