    Graduated with a bachelor of science in sport communication with minors in sport marketing and management in addition to telecommunications in December 2009. Patterson was a captain as a senior and junior. The weak-side linebacker earned the Harold Mauro Award following the 2009 campaign. The award is given to the Indiana University football player that best exemplifies valued qualities demonstrated by Harold Mauro to Indiana University and the Bloomington community. Patterson finished his career with 267 tackles, 173 solo, in 38 career starts.

    2007 (Sophomore): Second on the team with 104 tackles, including 59 solo stops ... led the team with three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries and finished fourth with eight tackles for loss ... added two sacks, one interception and three pass breakups ... 11th in the Big Ten in tackles, second in fumbles recovered and seventh in fumbles forced ... in league games only, finished sixth in tackles and second in forced fumbles ... started all 13 games at weak-side linebacker ... set a new career high with 14 tackles at Northwestern ... made 13 tackles, nine solo, and forced a fumble against Penn State ... matched that total with 13 tackles and recovered a fumble at Wisconsin ... collected 10 tackles at Iowa and also added a forced fumble.
