    Earned the 2009 Corby Davis Memorial Award, which was established by the family and friends of Corby Davis to honor a senior player whose conduct on campus, in the classroom and on the football field most closely exemplifies the qualities of former Big Ten MVP Corby Davis. Zematis began his career at defensive end, where he recorded one sack as a sophomore, before moving to tight end that same season. A physical blocker, he also was an important cog in the team's special teams unit. Zematis played in 27 career games with two starts.

    2009 (Senior): Made two starts and appeared in all 12 games ... tremendous blocker helped IU allow just 16 sacks on the season, a total that ranked second in the Big Ten and shared 28th nationally ... Hoosiers surrendered one sack per 27.5 pass attempts, which ranked second in the Big Ten ... team finished second in conference games only with 262.4 passing yards per game ... also ended year fourth in overall games and 35th nationally with 247.9 passing yards per game ... Hoosiers rushed for over 180 yards on four occasions, including 197 yards at No. 23 Michigan and 196 yards vs. Purdue ... 197 yards was IU's second-highest rushing total in 60 all-time games vs. Michigan ... Academic All-Big Ten selection.

    2008 (Junior): Missed the first game due to an illness and appeared in the next seven games at tight end before he suffered a season-ending ankle injury ... Academic All-Big Ten selection.

    2007 (Sophomore): Played in seven games, both as a defensive end and as a tight end in short-yardage situations ... recorded his first career sack against Indiana State ... named scout team player of the week following the Iowa game ... Academic All-Big Ten selection.

    2006 (Freshman): Did not see any game action in 2006.

    2005: Redshirted the 2005 season.

    Prep/Personal: Defensive end and tight end for head coach Scott Sugg at Andover High School ... ranked 16th in the state of Michigan, out of all position players, by Scout.com ... posted 111 tackles, six sacks and two interceptions during senior season ... named all-state, all-league and all-area ... team won the district and league titles with a 10-2 mark in 2004 ... a two-way starter for two years, Zematis was a member of the All-North football team and second team all-county ... a three-year letterwinner in football, basketball and track ... parents are Frank and Colleen Zematis ... born on Sept. 12, 1986, Brian Carl Zematis is a SPEA management major.
