Post Game Quotes - Indiana State vs Indiana
Indiana Head Coach Kevin Wilson
"We had a nice start. We were a little sloppy in some areas and a lot of things to hopefully build on because a lot of guys got to play. There are a lot of positives, but a boatload of negatives: the old adage, the coach-speak, from game one to two so it's exciting. We got some stats that look cool. I thought the effort was outstanding. I thought the defensive effort we got worked a couple of times, but it was significantly better. Our kicking effort was really good. I still think we have to keep bringing the run game along and some things on offense, but we have some playmakers there and that's evident. We're a young team that's got a chance. We've got a lot of guys back, a lot of good young players. We just look forward to having a good week here. We played this game early so we'll rest up tomorrow. The kids will go to class and we'll meet them in the morning. We'll meet the kids before lunch and make sure we got everybody accounted for and get them to class, but then we'll get a good go on Saturday, a good go on Sunday, which will be like a Tuesday which I really think will help us moving into next week because we have a very challenging opponent next week. Good start and I'm proud of the way the kids worked and happy to see them rewarded with a pretty good win."
On playing multiple quarterbacks:
"We didn't decide until this morning and told Tre [Roberson]. Their battle was about dead even and yet, the way we practice, because we don't get preseason games, it's a scrimmage but you never tackle the quarterback. We even thought about that `should we tackle the quarterback?' As soon as you do that, heaven forbid, you get a cheap injury. We even had a discussion `should we go live on the quarterbacks?' because I think that plays sometimes into Tre's hand when he starts running around because they can't tackle him. If they get close to him in a scrimmage, he's down. Myself being an offensive coach, if I don't call him down, the defensive coaches start fussing at me, so it's like two-hand tag if you're down, you're down. The thought was since it was dead even and Tre has been playing with his hands tied, maybe it wasn't dead even if we were playing for real, so let's go with Tre. The other thing was that it was a bit sentimental. He was the guy that got hurt and fought hard to come back, so let's let him roll. He actually took a shot and has a bruise in his chest, like a rib deal. It's not a break or anything, but he took a shot and is a little gimpy, so that's why we went with the other guy. Then the score went to 42 just like that, so we went with Cam [Coffman] and Nate [Sudfeld] from there. It's not an injury deal that's hurting him. He was good to go. They said he could play the second half, but the way the score was, we just didn't go back to him."

Indiana vs. Indiana State University Player Postgame Quotes
What did you think about the way the quarterbacks played?
"I think they all did really well. Again like I said before, if one goes down, we have another one. If two go down, we have a third great one. It doesn't matter which order it is. They all play very well."
Is this like an extension of last year where you don't really worry about who is under center?
"No, I don't worry about it. They all are going to throw the ball. We just call the same plays. We don't have a specific offense for a specific quarterback. They are all going to play well."
You have Navy next week, and they run the option. What do you guys see from the Midshipmen?
"The same thing they did last year. They run the option. They run certain dial plays, pitch plays, but we've been practicing that for a while, so we are ready."
You played a lot outside with T.J in the middle. How's that dynamic?
"It was great. I feel like you can put me anywhere at the linebacker position and I can execute every day. It feels great playing next to a good competitor like TJ and Flo [Harden] on the other side."
Indiana State Head Coach Mike Sanford Post Game Quotes
"That was nothing close to what we expected or wanted, but the reality is it was what happened. Early in the game, we gave them advantages because of mistakes on special teams and mistakes on offense such as turnovers and not sustaining drives and it gave them short fields. Things got away from us fast. We got to a point right after halftime where we had a chance to get back in the game, and I believed we were going to come back and win but we weren't able to keep that going and it continued to get away from us."
On the teams early mistakes:
"It was very frustrating and made things very difficult for us, like the fact that we started off the game with a loose snap from center by two new guys. As the night went on, those guys did some good things, but that low snap ended up giving them the ball inside the 20 on their first series."
On Shakir Bell's injury:
"The good news is that they did an x-ray and there is nothing broken. He has a shoulder injury, and we're going to wait and see the severity of it as we go along. It's not dislocated, but we will have to wait and see what exactly it is."
On losing Bell early in the second half:
"Obviously Shakir Bell is a good football player and when he is out of the game it makes things tougher, but you have to overcome that. The other running backs got in there and were productive and that's what we need from other guys."
