Indiana, Ball State to Open 2011 Season at Lucas Oil

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's 2011 football season opener against Ball State on Sept. 3 will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium, the home of the National Football League's Indianapolis Colts, Ball State announced today.
Admission prices and game time will be set at a later date. The game was originally scheduled to be played as a Ball State home game in Muncie, Ind.
Known best as the home of the Colts, Lucas Oil Stadium also is a major site for conventions, exhibitions, trade shows and NCAA basketball competition. The unique retractable roof makes it exceptionally flexible for both indoor and outdoor events. The roof can be opened or closed in approximately nine minutes. Lucas Oil Stadium is a seven-level facility that seats 63,000 for football and up to 70,000 for basketball, conventions and concerts. It covers 1.8 million square feet, features 137 corporate suites, two club lounges, meeting rooms and two exhibit halls.
Head coach Kevin Wilson and the Hoosiers open the campaign with the Cardinals before kicking off their home slate against Virginia on Sept. 10. Indiana wraps up its non-conference portion of the schedule with a Sept. 17 meeting versus South Carolina State at Memorial Stadium and a visit to Denton, Texas, to face North Texas on Sept. 24.
