Johns Named Top Big Ten Receivers Coach by Rivals.com
March 4, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Rivals.com has recognized Indiana assistant Kevin Johns as the Big Ten's top wide receivers coach. Johns, IU's co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, joined head coach Kevin Wilson's staff on Jan. 4, 2011.
He spent the previous seven seasons at Northwestern, including the last five as the Wildcats wide receivers coach. Johns coached NU's running backs in 2004 and 2005. He also was appointed the program's recruiting coordinator in July of 2006, a position he held until January of 2008 when he assumed the role of passing game coordinator.
Here is what Rivals.com had to say about Johns:
One of the game's underrated coaches, Johns was receivers coach at Northwestern the past five seasons before moving to Bloomington to work with new Hoosiers coach Kevin Wilson. Johns consistently took overlooked wide receivers and turned them into some of the Big Ten's most productive pass catchers: Eric Peterman, Zeke Markshausen, Jeremy Ebert, Ross Lane and Andrew Brewer among them.
