BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -Caleb Cornett redshirted his first season in Bloomington. The 6-3, 192-pound wide receiver arrived at Indiana from Ben Davis High School in 2012.
Cornett made 47 receptions for 740 yards and six touchdowns as a senior. He earned all-state honors and carded a spot on the Indiana Football Coaches Association Top 50.
IUHoosiers.com's Jeremy Gray talked to Cornett following a spring practice:
Talk about your redshirt season:
"It helped me come in and learn the system. It helped me get bigger and faster. It was very important for me and will help me over the next four years."
What did you learn from wide receivers coach Kevin Johns?
"To listen to him. He is very smart. That is one of the reasons why our receivers have had so much success."
How big of a difference is academics at IU vs. high school?
"It is definitely a change from high school. The academic center is a major help. It helps me focus and get all my work done."
What is your major?
"African American and African Diaspora Studies."
How has head strength and conditioning coach Mark Hill helped you?
"In many different ways. Mark Hill is a good strength coach. I listen to everything he says on the field and in the weight room."
Are you ready to get on the field in 2013?
"More than excited. It's a change from being in high school where I played all year to redshirting and not playing. I am definitely looking forward to getting on the field."
