Indiana Puts on the Pads at Spring Practice No. 3
March 11, 2014
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On a perfect 70-degree spring day, the Indiana football team concluded its third practice on Tuesday. The Hoosiers wore full pads for the first time at the IU Practice Fields.
Indiana will return to action Thursday before the team takes off for Spring Break. Practice will resume on Tuesday, March 25, and the annual Cream & Crimson Spring Game will take place at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, April 12.
Head coach Kevin Wilson provided his thoughts on the practice to IUHoosiers.com's Jeremy Gray:
Senior wide receiver Shane Wynn is the first player in IU history with receiving (17), punt return (one), kick return (one) and rushing (one) scores in his career. He became the 18th Hoosier to reach 100 receptions and 1,000 yards.
On Indiana's career lists, Wynn is third in kick return yardage (1,610), tied for fifth in receiving touchdowns (17), tied for eighth in catches (133), 10th in all-purpose yardage (3,270) and 17th in receiving yardage (1,490).
Wynn joined Gray after today's practice:
David Cooper moved from middle linebacker to the strong-side and started all 12 games in 2013. He led the team with 85 tackles, 52 solo, to go along with 2.5 sacks (15 yards), six tackles for loss (22 yards) and one fumble recovery.
The senior tied for second on the Hoosiers in TFLs and was third in sacks. Cooper also shared 13th in Big Ten with 7.1 stops per game.
