Coach Smith on the QBs
March 28, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Rod Smith is in his first season as Indiana's co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The Hoosiers return to the field for spring practice No. 6 on Tuesday, but Smith took time to talk to IUHoosiers.com's Jeremy Gray about the team's quarterbacks.
Smith coached the quarterbacks at the University of Michigan from 2008-10 after one season in the same position at West Virginia University. He helped develop two of college football's most explosive quarterbacks in U-M's Denard Robinson and WVU's Pat White.
In 2010, Robinson set the NCAA record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 1,702 yards. He led the Wolverines with 14 rushing touchdowns and threw for 2,570 yards and 18 touchdowns. Robinson also became the first quarterback in NCAA history to rush and pass for 1,500 yards in a season.
