Kozak Making Smooth Transition to IU

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Freshman defensive end Kyle Kozak is one of two Hoosier early enrollees this spring along with offensive lineman A.J. Thompson. He sat down with IUHoosiers.com to talk about how he is adjusting to IU and how the first week of spring practice played out.

Kozak was a defensive lineman for head coach Robert Prunty (Hargrave [Va.] Military Academy) and Jay Sharret (Pickerington [Ohio] Central). He spent the 2007 season at Hargrave Military Academy, played three years at Emmaus (Pa.) High School and attended Pickerington Central High School his senior season. Indiana co-defensive coordinator Brian George was a former assistant coach at Pickerington Central.
Kozak led Pickerington Central to a 13-2 record and a state runner-up finish. He earned four varsity football letters and two varsity basketball letters. Kozak was one of two members of the class from Ohio.
The son of Kevin Kozak and Lisa Hammond was born on January 5, 1989. He intends to study exercise science and his uncle, Kory Kozak, played defensive tackle at Rutgers.
