Bloomington, IN - Indiana began its second full week of spring practice on Monday April, 12. Here is what head coach Gerry DiNardo and running Yamar Washington had to say after practice.

    Head Coach Gerry DiNardo

    On Yamar Washington's progress:
"It has been good. He played about 10-12 snaps on Saturday. I think that was enough for him. He's a guy with a lot of experience and is just coming back from major knee surgery less than a year ago. His progress has been good. He is very focused and I expect him to be full speed by August."

On if he plans on running the same running back rotation:
"I think it is way too soon to decide. We have to get to August and have everyone healthy. Once we get to August, we'll have to see who performs. I think what we will try to do now is get Kenni Burns a lot of scrimmage experience. He scrimmaged 95 plays on Saturday, which was the most of anyone on the team. That is what he needs. The other guys need to keep scrimmaging as well, but I don't think we are ready to start talking about rotation."

On what stands out to him after watching film from Saturday's scrimmage:
"I still think our offense needs to take advantage of good fortune whether its field position by kick game or field position by the defense getting turnovers. I don't think there is any question that we continue to improve on the things that we need to from last season. I see progress in our major goals."

On if he's feeling 100 percent:
"I don't think I am completely 100 percent yet. I am getting close though. I feel a little rusty because I haven't played in so long. That is about it, I don't really think about it too much."

On where he can tell he's not 100 percent:
    "Its mostly accelerating and balancing."

On what its like to play on the field surface:
"When I am feeling good again, I think it's going to be a great surface for me and my type of running, because I cut a lot. It's a must faster surface than normal."

On how the running game as changed since last season:
YW: "I think we know the offense a lot better and everyone knows what to do. That is half the battle right there. Plus we have a bunch of good running backs, so there is more competition, and everyone wants to run as hard as they can."
