Inside the North End Zone Facility
April 14, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Bill Lynch led a tour inside the North End Zone Facility last week. IUHoosiers.com was there too, and you can watch the tour by clicking here and look at a photo gallery by clicking here.
The exterior of the North End Zone Facility is nearing completion as workers from F.A. Wilhelm finalize installation of glass windows and precast concrete. Interior work has also advanced significantly with cold winter months forcing some workers inside. Major interior work has included electrical work, insulation, walls, ceilings, and structural elements. View photos of the North End Zone Facility.
The North End Zone Facility broke ground in July 2007 and is scheduled for completion in July of this year. This new 100,000-square-foot facility will transform Memorial Stadium into a horseshoe layout connecting the East and West stands, complete with a new seating bowl and outdoor club area. The facility will include increased space for athletic administration offices and a 24,000-square-foot strength and conditioning center for use by student athletes in every varsity sport. It will also feature the Hall of Champions, a premier entertainment space for special events that will feature and celebrate great achievements in the history of IU Athletics.
The North End Zone Facility will also become the new headquarters of Indiana Football, featuring new staff offices, position meeting rooms and a team auditorium. In August, IU Football will begin its new 2009 season from inside the new facility.
