Coach Hep Indiana Cancer Challenge Set for May 10
May 9, 2008
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Coach Hep Indiana Cancer Challenge cycle/run/walk event will take place on Saturday, May 10 in honor of Indiana University Football Coach Terry Hoeppner, who died last year after battling brain cancer.
Indiana residents are asked to join in the fight against cancer and challenge themselves to adopt Coach Hep's inspirational "Don't Quit" attitude - with the goal of raising $150,000.
Participants may register the day of the event. A minimum pledge of $35 is required to participate. Proceeds are to benefit the IU Simon Cancer Center and the Olcott Center for Cancer Education.
Jane Hoeppner, the wife of late Coach Hep, will serve as the honorary chairperson for the event, which will take place at Armstrong Stadium at Indiana University in Bloomington.
"By taking part in the Challenge, participants will be raising awareness and impacting the fight against cancer here in Indiana," said Jane Hoeppner. "This is a wonderful opportunity to pull together as a community and show our support for those who have battled with cancer."
The Challenge motto is "Don't Quit. Join the Fight." As a token of appreciation, a pair of red shoelaces will be given away to all participants showing that we are tied to the fight against cancer.
