Bloomington, Ind. -- Indiana University head football coach Cam Cameron today announced that the IU football program has been recognized by the American Football Coaches Association for its academic achievement. Indiana University was one of 27 NCAA Division I-A members who received such recognition for tallying graduation rates of 70 percent or better.
Said Cameron, "We have a sign in the football computer room with a quote from president (Myles) Brand that says, 'We expect you to do your best in both football and academics. One does not replace the other and remember: Graduate, Graduate, Graduate.' We as an athletic department and football program have taken this objective very seriously and will continue to do so."
The award will be presented at the AFCA Kickoff Luncheon during the Association's 2001 convention in Atlanta.
