    Eight Earn Preseason Honors

    BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Eight Indiana football players have earned preseason recognition by several sport publications, including Street & Smith's, The Sporting News and Lindy's. Along with those accolades, senior Matt LoVecchio was named to the preseason watch list for the 2004 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, given annually to the nation's top signal caller.

    Sophomore running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis, senior wide receiver Courtney Roby, senior offensive lineman Chris Jahnke, junior offensive lineman Isaac Sowells, senior defensive lineman Jodie Clemons and senior safety Herana-Daze Jones were named to the 2004 Street & Smith's Honorable Mention All-America Team. Clemons was also honored on the 2004 Street & Smith's All-Big Ten Team.

    The Sporting News named Green-Ellis the best short-yardage runner in the Big Ten and the second-best running back between the tackles in the conference. The Sporting News honored junior John Pannozzo as the second-best blocking fullback and ranked Sowells the fourth-best offensive left tackle in the league. LoVecchio was rated fourth among Big Ten quarterbacks.

    Lindy's ranked Clemons as the 14th-best defensive tackle in the nation and Green-Ellis the 27th-best running back in the nation.
