Aug. 2, 2013
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana football program began fall camp on Friday with its first official practice of the 2013 season. IU's opener is set for Thursday, Aug. 29, when the Indiana State Sycamores come to Memorial Stadium for a 7 p.m. contest.
The Hoosiers get back at it for practice No. 2 on Saturday. After a pair of partially-padded practices on Sunday and Monday, Indiana's first day of full pads comes on Tuesday. Two-a-days begin on Wednesday.
Head coach Kevin Wilson is in his third fall camp at the helm of the Hoosier football program and IUHoosiers.com spoke with him after practice No. 1:
Senior tight end Ted Bolser has been placed on the Mackey Award Preseason Watch List for the third straight year. He became the third tight end in school history and the 36th player overall to reach 1,000 career receiving yards. Bolser enters the 2013 campaign with 1,017 yards (35th all-time), nine TDs, which is an Indiana tight end record, and 82 receptions, which is second to Bob Stephenson (115 from 1978-81). IUHoosiers.com tracked him down after practice as well:
Senior running back Stephen Houston ranks sixth on IU's career lists with 20 rushing touchdowns and seventh with 24 total touchdowns. He scored at least one TD in nine straight games, including the final game of 2011, which tied for the second-longest streak in school history with James Hardy (2006-07) behind Anthony Thompson's 12 (1988-89). Houston accounted for 16 of Indiana's 46 touchdowns (34.8 percent) in 2012 and 24 of its 77 (31.2) since his arrival in 2011. Houston took a moment to speak with IUHoosiers.com following the conclusion IU's first practice:
