Throughout the 2007 Training Camp, IUHOOSIERS.com will sit down and get to know some of the Hoosier football players a little better. In the first installment, we asked starting left tackle Rodger Saffold ten questions on a wide variety of topics.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
"Back home to Cleveland. I love it back home and I miss my family. But they know I have to work hard over here, so that's what I'm going to do."
What is something about you that would surprise most people?
"I can do front flips, back flips and all types of gymnastic-type things."
What class are you looking forward to most this semester?
"I love math, so I am really excited for my math classes. I am trying to get into the business school, so anything numbers and business, I am ready for it."
Which teammate has the best sense of humor?
"That would probably have to be JB (James Bailey). He is the funniest dude. JB and Chris Phillips, they are the funniest guys on the team."
If you weren't playing football, what sport would you be playing?
"Basketball. If I would have been playing in ninth grade like I was supposed to, I would have been college material."
What game are you looking forward to most this season?
"The bowl game. I already know we are going to make it and I am ready for it. I told my parents that I am only going to be home for two days during Christmas vacation, so I have to get used to it."
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
"My father. He has taught me a lot of things. He told me if I ever had any problems over here or anything, I could just call him and he would get me ready to face them. I respect my father."
What is your favorite place on campus to go to relax?
"Wherever I reside, because I think my bed is the most comfortable place. After a long day of practice, my bed is where I want to be the most."
What is your favorite food?
"That has to be steak and cheeseburgers. I love meat. That's why I'm a lineman."
Do you have any pregame superstitions?
"I always pray. I think it helps me and it helps my team. You can take anything you can get, why take one from the man upstairs."
