    Go Hoosiers!

    Aug. 7, 2008

Throughout the Hoosiers' 2008 fall practice, IUHOOSIERS.com will sit down and get to know some of the freshmen football players a little better. In today's installment, we asked linebacker Chad Sherer 10 questions on a wide variety of topics.

What football player did you look up to growing up?
Recently it's Bob Sanders, I've been watching him fly around the field and I want to be like him.

What is your best football memory?
My best football memory is probably when I was a freshman in high school I played with my older brother, Dustin Sherer, who plays quarterback for Wisconsin. He threw me the first touchdown pass of the season, so that was pretty special.

Why did you choose to come to Indiana?
I just felt comfortable here, the coaches, obviously its close to home, the location and obviously the education, so it was an easy choice for me.

What person in your life do you look up to most? I would say my dad because he has been there all my life pushing me. He's been hard on me some times but it's made me a tougher person.

What is something about you outside of football that would surprise most people?
I have the school record in batting average for my high school baseball team.

If you weren't playing football, what sport would you be playing?
Baseball, when I was a kid I wanted to play baseball but obviously football worked out for me a little better.

Did you have a nickname in high school? What's the story behind it?
Probably C-Wick because my first name is Chadwick so they called me C-Wick all the time.

What have you been doing in your spare time at the hotel?
We have a computer and we've been playing the new NCAA game, its pretty fun. Just watching TV with my roommate. There's not too much time, I'm here most of the day.

How different is the level of football from high school?
It's pretty different. It's a lot faster. It's weird because I'm at the bottom of the totem pole now and have been at the top my whole life. It's fast and everybody is bigger so I just have to get used to that.

What are you thinking about majoring in and why?
Probably business, if I can get into the Kelley school. I'm a people guy, and my dad is in business, so I want to go there.
