Throughout the Hoosiers' 2008 fall practice, IUHOOSIERS.com will sit down and get to know some of the freshmen football players a little better. In today's installment, we asked running back Darius Willis 10 questions on a wide variety of topics.
Why did you choose to come to Indiana?
I wanted to be a part of something special. This is a great school with great talent and a great coaching staff, and I just wanted to come here.
What person in your life do you look up to most?
My mom and my sister. They work hard for me. They do everything for me. My mom is a perfect symbol for something good, and she wants me to be better, so I just follow her.
How different is the level of football from high school?
Practice is a lot faster. There is a big difference. The linemen are a lot faster. There is a lot of talent out here compared to high school. Everyone works hard out here.
What is your favorite food?
Chinese food, without a doubt
What has surprised you most since you've been at IU?
The atmosphere. Just being here on campus and practicing, it is great.
Did you have a nickname in high school? What's the story behind it?
People called me D-Will, just shortening my name. A lot of people called me Ron Artest because they think I look like him.
What have you been doing in your spare time at the hotel?
Sleep. We don't have spare time. As soon as we get to the hotel it is sleep time, so I just go straight to sleep.
What is something about you outside of football that would surprise most people?
I'm an easy-going guy. I goof around. I like to joke a little bit. The music I listen to would probably surprise people too.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I like to listen to rock and alternative. Alternative bands and that type of music.
What other players on the team are you closest to?
I would say my lineman Justin Pagán, and a couple of receivers, Shane Covington and Charles Love III.
