Hoosiers in the NFL
Aug. 12, 2007
As the first weekend of the NFL preseason wraps up, several former Hoosiers made an impact in their respective games. Let's take a look at how the ex-Indiana stalwarts performed this weekend.
Antwaan Randle El and Courtney Roby squared off in Tennessee as Randle El's Washington Redskins knocked off Roby's Tennessee Titans, 14-6, on Saturday. Randle El hauled in one catch for 20 yards, while Roby grabbed three balls for 17 yards.
In Miami, head coach Cam Cameron made his Dolphins debut on Saturday and a quartet of former Hoosiers took the field in the team's 18-17 victory over Jacksonville. Trent Green started at quarterback and finished 6-of-15 for 60 yards. Tight end Aaron Halterman added one catch for six yards.
Chris Liwienski will provide Green with protection, as he is slated as the team's starting left guard. Meanwhile, Gibran Hamdan did not see any action as he battles for one of the back-up quarterback roles.
Defensive end Adewale Ogunleye and the Chicago Bears knocked off Chris Taylor's Houston Texans, 20-19, in Houston on Saturday night. Taylor did not see any action.
Herana-Daze Jones collected three tackles, but his Cincinnati Bengals came up short at Detroit, 27-26, on Thursday evening. The defensive back is a key contributor to the Bengals special teams.
Victor Adeyanju entered the St. Louis Rams exhibition opener on the two-deep at defensive end. The Rams knocked off Minnesota, 13-10, in Minneapolis Friday evening.
Back-up right guard Isaac Sowells and the Cleveland Browns bested the Kansas City Chiefs, 16-12, in Cleveland on Saturday night.
Finally, wide receiver Jahkeen Gilmore did not see action for Carolina in its 24-21 win over the New York Giants on Saturday at the Meadowlands.
Starting left guard Kris Dielman and the San Diego Chargers open their preseason Sunday night, when they host the Seattle Seahawks at 8 p.m. ET.
