Throughout the Hoosiers' 2008 fall practice, IUHOOSIERS.com will sit down and get to know some of the freshmen football players a little better. In today's installment, we asked defensive lineman Larry Black 10 questions on a wide variety of topics.

What football player did you look up to growing up?
You know, I always looked up to Julius Peppers. He was a good defensive end and I used to play defensive end but I moved to the inside."

What is your best football memory?
"My interception last year. I almost had a touchdown but they grabbed me. But I came back and we scored.

" Why did you choose to come to Indiana?
"It was close to home. I really felt the coaches really had more interest in me than some other schools and I just really felt the vibe with it. I really enjoy it."

What person in your life do you look up to most?
"My mom and dad, always. They're always there for me. They help me out so I always look up to both of them."

What is something about you outside of football that would surprise most people?
"I used to be an actor in high school. I played Tom Robinson in "To Kill a Mockingbird." Not too many people know that I was a really good actor. I might study acting here."

Did you have a nickname in high school? What's the story?
"Big Black. They discovered Big Black because that's just how I was."

If you weren't playing football what sport would you be playing?
"Baseball. I used to play catcher, so that's where I'd be"

How different is the level of football here from high school?
"Ten times harder and way faster. Everyone's good so it's a lot different. I'm just adjusting to that, but the main difference is the speed."

Was there anything that surprised you about IU?
"Not really, mostly everything has been good. Everything's been the same as what I thought. A lot of good things, nothing bad. Everything's been good."

    What's your favorite food?
"I like pizza. I'll have to go with pizza. And bean soup."

What are you thinking of majoring in and why?
"Either environmental science or acting like I said before, just because I feel really close to those and I have a good future in there."
