Hardy Named to Biletnikoff Watch List
Sept. 5, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior wide receiver James Hardy has been named to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List for 2007, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced. The Biletnikoff Award, named after former Florida State and NFL great Fred Biletnikoff, is presented annually to the nation's outstanding college football receiver. Hardy is one of 39 candidates for the honor.
In his first contest of the 2007 season, Hardy caught three passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns against Indiana State. Kellen Lewis found Hardy for scores of 79 and 58 yards, marking the first time since 2001 that IU posted two passing scores of 50 or more yards in a single game. For Hardy, it was his second straight 150-plus-yard contest, as he wrapped up the 2006 season with a nine-catch, 151-yard performance against Purdue on Nov. 18, 2006.
Hardy is already among the top receivers in school history even though he is only one game into his third season. His 22 career touchdown receptions rank second all-time behind Jade Butcher's 30, and he currently sits sixth in receiving yards (1,768) and eighth in receptions (115) in the school's all-time annals. Hardy's nine games of 100 or more receiving yards are just one off Ernie Jones' record 10.
The Fort Wayne, Ind., native recorded his sixth career contest with more than one touchdown against ISU. He already holds the top two marks in school history with four touchdown catches against Michigan State and three against Iowa last year.
The winner will be announced on ESPN's annual college football award show on Dec. 6, 2007.
