Akron Game Captains Announced

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head football coach Bill Lynch announced right guard Pete Saxon, tight end Brian Zematis and wide receivers Terrance Turner and Mitchell Evans will serve as game captains when the Hoosiers face Akron on Saturday.
Lynch will announce captains prior to each game. The team will select this year's permanent captains upon the conclusion of the season.
Linebacker Will Patterson, defensive end Jammie Kirlew, left tackle Rodger Saffold and quarterback Ben Chappell were game captains for the team's season opener against Eastern Kentucky. Running back Bryan Payton, safety Austin Thomas and linebackers Matt Mayberry and Tyler Replogle served as captains against Western Michigan.
Starting 2-0 for the sixth straight season, the Indiana football team hits the road for the first time in 2009 with a visit to Akron (1-1). The Hoosiers will be the second team to visit brand new InfoCision Stadium (30,000) on Saturday, Sept. 19. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. EDT and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
IU moved to 2-0 following a 23-19 victory over Western Michigan on Sept. 12. Senior Demetrius McCray ran for a career-high 134 yards with a 59-yard score and senior defensive end Greg Middleton forced a WMU fumble at the Hoosier 8-yard line with 1:20 remaining to preserve the victory. Bill Lynch became the first Indiana head coach to open his career with three consecutive 2-0 starts.
Todd Harris will handle play-by-play duties and he will be joined by analyst Charles Arbuckle. The game can also be heard on the statewide IU Radio Network with Don Fischer (play-by-play), Pete Compise (analyst) and Joe Smith (pre-game, halftime and post-game) on the call.
