Bloomington, Ind.-Festivities for Homecoming 2003 will get underway tonight with the 45th Annual Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally. The Hoosiers will host Northwestern for Homecoming on Saturday.
The parade will go west on East Third Street and lead into pep rally at the Sample Gates on Indiana Avenue. The grand marshals for the 45th Annual Homecoming Parade will be Indiana president Dr. Adam W. Herbert and his wife Karen. The parade is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
The pep rally, following the parade at the Sample Gates, will begin at 6:30 p.m. The IU Marching Hundred, IU cheerleaders, RedSteppers and fireworks will all be part of the festivities. Indiana Associate Athletics Director of Facilities Chuck Crabb will be the master of ceremonies. Indiana head football coach Gerry DiNardo as well as other representatives of the Indiana football team will be present to address the crowd. The Indiana University Homecoming Court with King and Queen will also be announced at the pep rally.
Following the pep rally there will be fireworks with a bonfire in Dunn Meadow. Entertainment at the bonfire will live music from Paradox, led by former Indiana womens swimming All-American Jenn Cristy, and the Beat Niks. Free popcorn and refreshments will be available at the bonfire.
The Hoosiers will battle Northwestern at 11:10 a.m. on Saturday. The game will be televised on ESPN-Plus and can be heard on the IU Radio Network with Don Fischer (p-b-p), Dan Thompson (analysis) and Joe Smith (pre game, halftime and post game). For tickets call 1-866-IUSPORTS.
