BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - In response to high ticket demand for the Oct. 13 Indiana home football game against Ohio State at Memorial Stadium, IU Athletics has announced plans for auxiliary and shuttle parking options to help alleviate parking and traffic congestion surrounding the stadium.

"In the past, we parked extra vehicles in the grass intramural fields on the northeast corner of the IU Athletics campus," said Deputy Athletic Director Scott Dolson. "With construction of our state-of-the-art baseball and softball venues, it is extremely important for us to identify alternative parking options to allow as many fans as possible to tailgate and experience IU football game days."

The shuttle parking area will be located near the intersection of North Curry Pike and State Road 46. The shuttle lot is along one of the alternative routes recommended to bypass traffic congestion on game days. View the shuttle parking and alternative route map.

Fans using shuttle parking will be able to tailgate in this area. Additional lighting and portable restrooms will be provided. Shuttle service to transport fans to and from Memorial Stadium will run continuously starting at 1:00 p.m. until one hour after the game. Shuttles will also receive a police escort to assist with traffic issues 2-3 hours prior to kick off.

The shuttle lot and parking lots at Memorial Stadium will open at 10 a.m. with the reserved student section in the Red Lot opening at 4 p.m.

Auxiliary parking will also be available north of Memorial Stadium and the IN 45/46 Bypass. IU Athletics will utilize grass areas along Milo B. Sampson Lane and surface parking near the IU Cyclotron and Proton Therapy Center. Auxiliary parking is also available at the Fee Lane Parking Garage, located near the IU Kelley School of Business.

The price for game day parking is $20 for automobiles and $50 for RV/Buses.

Kick off for Saturday's game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. The IU Alumni Association's Hoosier Village, where fans can enjoy food, beverage, music, and fellowship will open at 5 p.m.

"The Walk" will take place at 5:40 p.m. Fans are encouraged to line up between Assembly Hall and the east side of Memorial Stadium to cheer the players on their entrance into Memorial Stadium.

Stadium entrances will open at 6:30 p.m. Children will get an opportunity to enjoy the Kid Zone and Knothole Park starting at 6:30 p.m.

    Bloomington Roadway Construction Advisory
Roadway construction on many Bloomington thoroughfares and the IN 45/46 Bypass will continue throughout the 2012 football season. Delays due to construction are expected on football gamedays and IU Athletics encourages all football fans to plan ahead, arrive early and carefully plan routes to Memorial Stadium. (View map of current Bloomington Road Closings.)

Fans can utilize one of four alternative routes to Memorial Stadium to avoid some anticipated traffic congestion. (View the 2012 Alternative Route Map to Memorial Stadium.)

Fans are also encouraged to review the pre-game and post-game traffic patterns on roadways surrounding Memorial Stadium. Post-game traffic is anticipated to be at least as big a challenge as pregame traffic. Please be patient and anticipate delays. Fans are encouraged to take their time when exiting the stadium and to follow instructions from local law enforcement when leaving the stadium, which may include directing postgame traffic away from normal exit routes. (View the Pre-game and Post-game Traffic Pattern Maps.)

Bloomington residents not attending IU games are encouraged to avoid roadways surrounding Memorial Stadium not only to help with football traffic, but also to avoid creating traffic delays for themselves.
