Indiana-Northwestern Game to be Televised on BTN
Oct. 12, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's game at Northwestern on Saturday, Oct. 24, will be televised on the Big Ten Network, it was announced today. The Hoosiers (3-3, 0-2 Big Ten) and Wildcats (4-2, 1-1 Big Ten) will kick off at noon EDT/11 a.m. CDT in Evanston, Ill. All games can also be heard on the statewide IU Radio Network (Don Fischer, Pete Compise and Joe Smith) and on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio.
Game times are predicated on the Big Ten Conference television agreement with ABC, the Big Ten Network, ESPN and ESPN2 and are often not announced until 12 days before kickoff.
Returning to conference play following a trip to Virginia, the Indiana football team welcomes Illinois (1-4, 0-3 Big Ten) to Bloomington for IU's 97th Homecoming this weekend. The Hoosiers and Fighting Illini will meet at Memorial Stadium (52,692) on Saturday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. EDT and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network. This is Indiana's third Big Ten Network primetime showdown this season.
Indiana owns a 42-48-6 record on Homecoming, including wins in four of the last five seasons and a 5-4 mark this decade. Last year, the Hoosiers knocked off 22nd-ranked (BCS) Northwestern, 21-19. IU came up just short vs. Penn State, 36-31, in 2007 after reeling off three straight victories against Michigan State (46-21 in 2006), Illinois (36-13 in 2005) and No. 24 (AP) Minnesota (30-21 in 2004).
The Hoosiers are 3-5 all-time against the Fighting Illini on Homecoming. Indiana and Illinois' first Homecoming matchup came in 1910 (L, 3-0), IU's second Homecoming game, and have also faced off in 1937 (W, 13-6), 1951 (L, 21-0), 1966 (L, 24-10), 1969 (W, 41-20), 1995 (L, 17-10), 2001 (L, 35-14) and 2005.
