BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Junior center Will Matte has started all 30 career games at center. He is the only offensive lineman to start every game in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Matte sat down with IUHoosiers.com for a quick Q&A:

You've started 30 straight games for the Hoosiers at center. How have you been able to stay healthy and effective in that time?
"I would just say by working hard in the weight room and going hard every single play, mixed in with a little bit of luck as well."

You've served as a team captain this season, is that a role you like?
"I think it is challenging, but leadership is something you look to improve on each and every week. I'm definitely embracing that challenge."

How difficult is it as a center, adjusting to Coach Wilson's up-tempo offense?
"It has taken a while to adjust to the pace, but it has gotten easier as time goes on. I'm still learning as we go, but I'm pretty comfortable now in our offense."

How has the revamped strength and conditioning staff helped you?
"It has been great. Coach (Mark) Hill has shown us a lot of new things, and we've been doing a lot of running. The winter and summer were definitely some of the most difficult things I've ever been through, but I feel like I'm in the best shape I've ever been in."

What is your favorite stadium to visit in the Big Ten?
"I would probably have to say that I like Ohio State's stadium. I liked the atmosphere. It is fun for me playing on the road because I like feeding off of people booing you. I thought it was just a great atmosphere."

If you could play any other sport in college, what would you play and why?
"I would say rugby. It has always been interesting to me and I have several friends who played it when they were younger. It has just always seemed interesting to me."

What is the weirdest question you've ever been asked by the media?
"Some people ask questions about my beard. I can't remember anything specific, but it is always kind of weird to get asked about that."

That is strange to get asked questions about your facial hair. Speaking of your beard, when was the last time you were completely clean shaven?
"I think it was last winter. It has definitely been about a year."

If you had a sister, which teammate would you want her to marry?
"I would say Connor Creevey. He is my roommate, and I know him pretty well. He is a very good guy."
