BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - With Indiana Volleyball concluding the first half of the Big Ten season this weekend, IUHoosiers.com stopped in at practice on Monday to chat with sophomore Taylor Wittmer about several topics...

Indiana heads to Northwestern and Wisconsin this weekend, what are the keys to success against the Wildcats and Badgers?
"Being more intense than they are is biggest key. In the Big Ten, anybody can win on any given night. Both of those teams have been upset, but also pulled off upsets like Northwestern beating Illinois last week. You just never know. Another big key for us is staying focused and getting two wins this weekend."

Now twenty matches into the season, what are your thoughts on the freshmen class and their contributions thus far?
"They have obviously had to step up and play a lot this year. They've done a great job. Caitlin (Cox) has stepped in and taken the role of libero, which is huge for a freshman. More than anything, she brings knowledge of the game and intensity to the floor. Mary (Chaudoin) brings a lot of enthusiasm too, which helps us throughout the match."

What have been some of the biggest surprises thus far in 2008?
"We've dug ourselves a bit of a hole early on. We were expecting to have a few more wins at this point in the year. If we want to achieve our goals, we have to stay very focused the second half of the year."

What does the team have to do in order to achieve those goals, specifically getting back into the race for an NCAA Tournament berth?
"We need to play hard every set and be more consistent. Coming out hungry for every match will be important in getting enough wins to make the NCAAs."

Since the Big Ten portion of the schedule has started, your individual level of play has been elevated and you are attacking the ball more efficiently... what's been the difference for you once conference play began?
"For me, it's just my teammates giving me a lot of confidence, always staying positive. If we continue to stay positive, good things are going to happen."
