Bush to be Featured on BTN and ESPN Saturday
Nov. 3, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - In honor of Veterans Day, ESPN's College GameDay and the Big Ten Network will profile Indiana defensive end Kevin Bush on Saturday, Nov. 6, and chronicle his journey from Fort Wayne to a tour in the U.S. Armed Forces to Bloomington. College GameDay airs from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday and the Big Ten Football Saturday Pre-Game Show airs from 10:30 a.m.-noon.
Bush made his debut in the team's season-opening win over Towson. Bush saw limited action at defensive end and made one tackle, but he made an immediate impact on special teams. He blocked a punt that led to the Hoosiers' final touchdown of the first half. It was IU's first blocked punt since Sept. 27, 2008, against Michigan State and gave the team a 38-14 lead. He added two quarterback hurries and one tackle against Arkansas State.
Bush always dreamed of being an Indiana Hoosier. He never dreamed the route he would take to Bloomington. The 25-year-old began his career at the University of Toledo in 2004 before returning to his hometown of Fort Wayne after one month. He found a factory job, decided it wasn't for him, and went on to join the United States Armed Forces. Bush spent the next 3 1/2 years in the Army, including a 14-month stint in Iraq and one year in Korea.
Upon his return, he blazed through walk-on tryouts to earn a spot on the 2009 team, eventually earning co-defensive scout team player of the year honors.
