BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana fifth-year senior middle linebacker Jeff Thomas and sophomore kicker Mitch Ewald received honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition, the conference announced Monday evening.
Junior defensive tackle Adam Replogle was named Indiana's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.
The league's coaches recognized Thomas, while Ewald was honored by both the coaches and media.
Thomas led the Hoosiers with 80 tackles and 10.5 TFLs this season. He added one sack, one fumble recovery and three pass breakups in 11 starts. The Millbrae, Calif., native finished 12th in the Big Ten with 7.3 tackles per game and 13th with his 10.5 TFLs.
Ewald hit 13 of his 16 field goal attempts on the year and his 13 field goals tied him for the eighth best single-season total in Indiana history. He also hit all 30 of his extra point attempts and is a perfect 63-of-63 in his career.
The Naperville, Ill., native has made 29-of-35 (82.9 percent) field goals in his career and his 29 three-pointers rank seventh in school history. In Big Ten play, IU's career field goal percentage leader went 9-of-10 (90.0) in 2011 and is 20-of-23 (86.9) in his career.
Replogle is one of 10 finalists for the ARA Sportsmanship Award and a Capital One Academic All-District V selection. He led the Hoosiers with four sacks and added seven tackles for loss with 49 tackles, one forced fumble and two pass breakups in 2011.
