BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana offensive lineman Jacob Bailey and linebacker T.J. Simmons were named to ESPN.com's Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Bailey also earned a spot on BTN.com's Big Ten All-Freshman Team.
Bailey started at right guard three times and played in six games this season. In his three starts, IU averaged 46.0 points, 572.7 total yards, 319.3 passing yards and 253.3 rushing yards per contest.
The Hoosiers offense set single-season records with 6,102 total yards, 508.5 total yards per game, 461 points, 38.4 points per game, 36 passing touchdowns, 62 total touchdowns and 300 first downs. Indiana averaged over 300 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in the same season for the first time in school history.
IU's offensive line did not allow a sack in six games and surrendered just one sack every 26.1 pass attempts, which ranked third in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers were one of 10 teams in nation to rank in the top 35 in total, passing, scoring and rushing offense.
Simmons led all Big Ten freshmen with 68 tackles. The true freshman out of Lakeland, Fla., added one sack, 3.5 tackles for loss and two pass breakups.
He set a Hoosiers true freshman record with 12 starts at middle linebacker and became the first Indiana true freshman to start in the middle since 2002 (John Kerr). Simmons posted seven-or-more tackles in six games.
