BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana head football coach Bill Lynch announced today that Jeff Thomas has signed a National Letter of Intent and will enroll at Indiana University for the 2010 spring semester.

Thomas is a 6-1, 240-pound middle linebacker from Foothill Community College in Los Altos Hills, Calif. After greyshirting the 2007 season, he lettered in 2008 and 2009, set Foothill's career tackles record and is rated the fourth-best junior college middle linebacker by Scout.com.

In 2009, Thomas was named the NorCal Conference Defensive Player of the Year, first team all-state and first team all-league. He collected a conference-best 104 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and six pass breakups.

Thomas played four years of fullback at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, Calif., where he garnered all-league and all-county recognition, before he moved to linebacker his greyshirt season. He earned first team all-conference and all-state accolades as a freshman at Foothill.

The son of Jeff and Rouselyn Thomas was born on June 1, 1989, and intends to study communications.
