Hoosiers at Insight Bowl - Day 4
Dec. 30, 2007
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Hoosiers spent Sunday just like they did a normal Friday during the regular season, putting the finishing touches on their preparations for the opponent the following day. They began the day with a couple different church services available for the players followed by a team lunch and meeting.
Sunday was also the day for both teams' press conferences at the Scottsdale Camelback Resort. Head coach Bill Lynch and senior co-captains Josiah Sears and Tracy Porter represented Indiana at the press conference and also met with the broadcast crew from the NFL Network for the final time before kickoff on Monday.
After the interviews with the NFL Network, they made their way to the press conference and fielded questions from the gathered media for about a half hour before returning to the hotel for lunch and meetings.
After lunch, the team boarded the buses and made its way to Sun Devil Stadium for the first time since arriving in Arizona. Coach Lynch and the coaching staff put the team through their normal walk-thru on the field, being careful to avoid the roped off logo areas at midfield and in the end zones..
At the end of the walk-thru, a couple of special guests addressed the team on the field. First up was Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie, followed by Indiana Governor Mitch Mitch Daniels. And the final guest the quarterback of the 1967 Rose Bowl team, Harry Gonso.
From there, the players, coaches and support staff found a section in the bleachers to pose for a team photo. Coach Lynch then invited Governor Daniels over and Porter and Sears presented him with a helmet just like the team will wear in the game on Monday.
Sunday evening will be devoted strictly to team and position meetings to allow the players to focus only on Oklahoma State Cowboys.
