Indiana One Shot Off The Lead After Two Rounds of Mission Inn Spring Spectacular

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Indiana men's golf team (No. 62 Golfstat/No. 56 Golfweek) sits in second place after the first two rounds of the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, shooting a two-round team score of 578 (292-286, +2). Michael McGee led the Indiana charge with rounds of 73 and 68 (141), putting him in a tie for first place individually at 3-under par for the tournament, which is being held at Las Colinas Golf Course at the Mission Inn Resort.
In addition to McGee, Brant Peaper also had a strong day on the links and is tied for sixth place individually with a pair of rounds at even-par 72 (144). Another senior, Corey Ziedonis, made it three players inside the top 15 after he shot rounds of 70 and 75 to tie for 12th place at 145 and was 5-under on the par 5 holes on the day.
The team score for Indiana of 578 leaves them just one stroke behind Big Ten rival Purdue for first place in the tournament and seven strokes ahead of two teams tied for third place.
Indiana also had three players competing as individuals in the tournament and they were led by John Beringer, who posted rounds of 75 and 74 to tie for 24th place. Sean Stone started off strong with a first round score of 72 but struggled to a 84 in round two to sit in a tie for 67th. Max Kollin logged rounds of 78 and 79 and is tied for 73rd.
