    Indiana Finishes Tied for Sixth At Boilermaker Invitational

    WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Indiana men's golf team (No. 67 Golfstat/No. 55 Golfweek) began the round in sixth place at the Boilermaker Invitational and after a final round team score of 297, saw themselves tied with Kent State for sixth place. The tournament was held at the Kampen Course and hosted by Purdue University.

    "We played some very good golf at times this week," Indiana head coach Mike Mayer said. "We will take a lot from this week because it is great preparation for the Big Ten Championships coming up this week. We know we have to do a better job with the basics moving forward and I'm confident that we will."

    Michael McGee posted a 2-under par round of 70 on Sunday to give him a total score of 218 (+2) for the week and a tie for ninth place individually for the tournament. It is his fourth top 10 finish of the year and sixth of his career.

    "Michael McGee had a nice tournament for us," Mayer said. "It is good to see him return to form in time for the Big Ten Championships and the postseason."

    David Mills logged a final round 76, giving him a total score of 220 (+4) and a tie for 15th place individually. It is his third consecutive Top 16 finish of the season.

    Brant Peaper came in with a 73 in the final round to give him a three-round total of 224 (+8) and a tie for 27th place individually. Corey Ziedonis had a 78 in his final round to post a total score of 228 (+12) and a tie for 41st.

    Rounding out the IU scores was Andrew Fogg, who finished tied for 45th with a total score of 229 after his final round 79.

    Louisville came back from 10 strokes behind entering the final round to tie Iowa for first place. Robin Sciot-Siegrist (Louisville) and Steven Ihm (Iowa) tied for medalist honors at 211 (-5).

    The Hoosiers will join the other 11 members of the Big Ten at the Big Ten Championships this week at the Pete Dye Course in French Lick, Ind. The tournament will feature 36 holes of play on Friday followed by 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday.
