Davis Mills' Second Round 68 Propels Hoosiers Up The Leaderboard

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - The Indiana men's golf team started round two of the Northern Intercollegiate in 11th place but a strong showing on Saturday, posting a team score of 297, now has the Hoosiers in eighth place heading into Sunday's final round. David Mills' second round score of 4-under par 68 tied for the best individual round of the day and moved him into a tie for fourth place individually for the tournament.
"What an outstanding round by David Mills," Indiana head coach Mike Mayer said. "We needed a low round today and he gave it to us. We need his leadership this season and today she really showed it. I was also pleased with how Max Kollin responded today. We gained a few spots on the leaderboard today and we are going to go out and see how many more teams we can pass tomorrow."
Indiana now has a two round team score of 603 (306-297) and trails UT-Arlington by four strokes for seventh place.
Mills played his first nine holes - the back nine - in 1-under par and then birdied three of his final four holes to finish the front nine at 3-under par for a score 68 on the round. His two round total score of 142 (74-68) puts him in fourth place at 2-under par for the tournament, just four strokes out of the first place individual.
Freshman Max Kollin improved on his first round score by five strokes, posting a 1-over par 73 with two bogeys and one birdie. His two round total score of 151 leaves him in a tie for 34th place on the individual leaderboard.
Playing as an individual in his first collegiate tournament, Andrew Havill posted his second consecutive round of 79 on Saturday, giving his a two round total of 158 and a tie for 67th.
