Hoosiers Finish Day One at Wolf Run in Seventh Place

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - The Indiana men's golf team improved their score by 10 shots between rounds one and two at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate on Saturday in Zionsville, Ind. After posting a 298 in the first round, Indiana rebounded in the afternoon to fire a 288, which puts them in a tie for seventh with Kansas State. The Hoosiers, with a two round total of 586, sit just two strokes behind a pack of three teams at 584.
Illinois separated themselves from the pack with an impressive two round total of 563. North Florida and Central Florida are sitting in second and third place, respectively, with totals of 574 and 575.
Sophomore Chase Wright led the charge for the Hoosiers with a 1-under par 70 in the second round, which put him in a tie for 12th among all players. Wright fired a 74 in the first round. Fellow sophomore David Erdy put up an even par 71 in the second round, to go along with a first round 74. Erdy sits in 17th position among the entire field.
Senior Alex Martin shot a pair of 74s for Indiana to put him in a tie for 28th, while Michael McGee and Ren Han each posted two round totals of 152, which leaves them in a tie for 54th. McGee, a freshman, shot a second round 73 in his first collegiate tournament. Another Hoosier competing in his first event is freshman Corey Ziedonis, who ended the day with a 74 to go along with his first round score of 75. Ziedonis is competing in the tournament as an individual, and ended the day in a tie for 34th.
Indiana will look to finish strong on Sunday in final round action. The Hoosiers will tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m.
