CHICAGO - The Indiana men's golf team improved its team score by seven strokes in round two over round one at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Saturday, and moved up into a tie for 10th place with a total score of 591 (299-291) heading into Sunday's final round.

The top individual score for the Hoosiers on Saturday came from senior David Mills, who carded an Even par round of 70 and is tied for 16th on the individual leaderboard.

"We continue to improve and make strides each round, which exactly what we are looking to do," Indiana head coach Mike Mayer said. "David Mills played a very solid round of golf today and we got good contributions from the rest of our lineup. Max Kollin played very steady for us and Nicholas Grubnich was able to overcome a hiccup early in his round to post a 74 and then Sean Stone rallied from his difficult first round to contribute in round two so that was great to see."

Freshman Will Seger followed up his strong first round with a 77 in round two and is tied for 28th with a total score of 148 (71-77) while Max Kollin posted the second-best round of the day for IU with a 73 to move into a tie for 30th with a total score over the first two rounds of 149 (76-73).

Nicholas Grubnich registered a 74 in his second round and is tied for 42nd with a 151 (77-74) through two rounds and Sean Stone rounded out the Hoosiers lineup with a 75 on Saturday, giving him a two round total score of 153 (78-75) and a tie for 57th.

"If we continue to do what we have been doing so far and improve each round, we are going to be right there with some of the best teams and players in college golf at the end of Sunday," Mayer said.

The Hoosiers are tied with Illinois for 10th place in the team standings and they are ahead of SMU, Northwestern, Clemson and Florida.

Alabama is leading the tournament by 21 strokes at 2-under par while Texas is in second place at 19-over par.

The final round will begin at 8:30am ET on Sunday and live scoring can be found at Golfstat.com.
