Second Straight Round of 292 Leads To 11th Place Finish at Olympia Fields

CHICAGO - The Indiana men's golf team finished one of the premier collegiate tournament on the schedule this year with an 11th place finish after carding a final round 292 at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. The team's total score for the tournament was 883 (299-292-292, +43) was just four strokes out of eighth place.
"We played better than we did the previous tournament and that's what we are all about," Indiana head coach Mike Mayer said. "This is an improvement over last week and that's all that we have asked for in a tournament that may end up as the best field of any tournament this season."
The Indiana effort was led all weekend by senior David Mills, who registered a 73 in his final round to give him an overall score of 218 (75-70-73, +8) to finish T12 individually. It is his 20th career tournament finishing inside the top 20.
Max Kollin continued his strong early season play with a final round 72 to finish with a total score of 221 (76-73-72, +11) and a tie for 29th place. He was joined in 29th place by teammate Will Seger, who finished with a final round 73.
Also posting a solid final round was Nicholas Grubnich, who came in with a 74 to finish in a tie for 47th with a tournament score of 225 (77-74-74, +15). Rounding out the lineup for the Hoosiers was Sean Stone with a total score of 235 after a final round 82.
Indiana will play host to the Wolf Run Intercollegiate at Wolf Run Golf Club next weekend (Sept. 21-22).
