Sept. 22, 2007
ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - The host Indiana men's golf team posted a score of 286 in each of the first two rounds of the Wolf Run Intercollegiate at Wolf Run Golf Club (7,195 yards; par 71) in Zionsville, Ind. Junior Seth Brandon leads all golfers with total of 137 (68-69) through two rounds while the University of Michigan leads the 15-team tournament with a team score of 569 (283-286) with Indiana four strokes behind at 572 (286-286).
"Conditions could not have been any easier at Wolf Run Golf Club," Mayer said. "We found the golf course as receptive as it has ever been. That being said, we had a solid and consistent performance. We are happy with where we stand through two rounds."
Jorge Campillo nearly matched Brandon's first round score by firing a 69 but struggled in the second round and finished with a 76 for a total of 145 to put him in a tie for 14th.
Alex Martin and Drew Allenspach both carded a two-round total of 147 to put them in a tie for 26th. Martin opened with a 77 but rebounded in the afternoon to fire a 70 while Allenspach was consistent, with rounds of 73 and 74.
"We have a challenge ahead of us," Mayer said, "and we have two Big Ten teams battling with us so we have to take care of business tomorrow."
The final round will get underway on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. with groups going off the first and tenth tees. Indiana's tee times begin at 9:50 a.m. and run through 10:30 a.m.
