Hoosiers Post Top Five Finish at Windon Memorial Classic

The Indiana University men's golf team fired a five-under par 279 in the final round at the 2010 Windon Memorial Classic at North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill. to finish tied for fifth in the 17-team field with a three-round total of 868 (295-294-279). Juniors David Erdy and Chase Wright each carded 68s in the final round to lead the Hoosiers.
Michigan captured the tournament title with a two-over par 854 (285-287-282), while the Wolverines' Lion Kim grabbed medalist honors with a six-under par 207 (69-71-67).
Erdy recorded six final round birdies en route to a tie for fourth place individually with a two-under par 211 (69-74-68). Wright's final round 68 propelled him up the leaderboard to finish tied for 24th with a six-over par 219 (77-74-68). Wright had only one bogey on his card during the final round, to go along with four birdies.
Freshman David Mills also finished strong for the Hoosiers, posting an even-par 71 in the final round to move into a tie for 40th with a total of 221 (78-72-71). Sophomore Corey Ziedonis carded a one-over par 72 for Indiana, leaving him in a tie for 54th at 12-over par for the tournament at 225 (79-74-72). Sophomore Brant Peaper finished in a tie for 57th after posting a five-over par 76 for a total of 226 (71-79-76).
Head coach Mike Mayer and the Hoosiers will be back in action on October 11 at The Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
