Indiana Moves Up To Tenth at Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - The Indiana Men's Golf team moved up two spots to 10th place after two rounds of the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club. The Hoosiers posted a team score of 291 (+11) in round two, giving them a total team score of 591 (+31) heading into Tuesday's final round.
After opening with a 77 in round one on Sunday, Hugo Menendez rebounded nicely in round two to post a 2-under par 68, the lowest round of his IU career. He started off on No. 10 with a bogey but would go on to birdie five straight holes and six of the last seven holes on his first nine to go out in 31. After hitting a tough stretch on holes 1-4, he closed with birdies on No. 7 and No. 9, giving him eight birdies in the round to put him in a tie for 18th individually.
Menendez leads the field in scoring on the Par 3's through the first two rounds (-3) and has made 11 birdies to lead the field in that category as well.
Brant Peaper went out in 1-over par and came in 1-under par to give him an even-par round of 70, finishing with eight straight pars to move into a tie for ninth individually. David Mills had a steady round of 74 while Corey Ziedonis and Andrew Fogg both registered rounds of 79.
Arkansas' Sebastian Cappelen leads the field with a two-round total of 137 (-3), one stroke ahead of Brinson Paolini from Duke. Arkansas (561) holds a 12 stroke advantage over Auburn (573) in the team scores.
Indiana will begin the final round on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. ET off the No. 10 tee playing alongside SMU and Clemson.
