Oct. 5, 2008
CHICAGO, Ill. - The Indiana University men's golf team sits in second place at the Windon Memorial Classic after just under two completed rounds. Darkness forced three groups to finish their last three holes Monday morning.
The Hoosiers are at even par after day one of the event. Seth Brandon has been the top IU performer thus far, posting a 71 in the first round and 59 through 15 holes in the second round. The Dalton, Ga. native is two-under and in a tie for third place on the individual leaderboard. Brandon's eight birdies on the day are the fourth most in the field. Alex Martin joins Brandon in the top-ten, sharing ninth place at even par with three holes to play in his second round as well.
David Erdy and Jorge Campillo were the other two Hoosiers that contributed to the team score. Each are tied for 13th place at one-over. Erdy posted scores of 71, 72 while Campillo shot a 72 in the first round and has three holes to go in round number two. Drew Allenspach is also competing for the Cream and Crimson this weekend. He completed both of his rounds, carding scores of 78 and 74.
Indiana enters the final day nine strokes back from first-place Illinois, and nine strokes ahead of third-place Kent State. Both Illinois and Kent State completed their rounds before the darkness set in.
