Indiana in Middle of Pack at UNCG Bridgestone Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Playing its first competitive golf in three weeks, the 19th-ranked Indiana men's golf is in eighth place after two rounds in the 15-team UNCG Bridgestone Classic. The Hoosiers shot a 589 (298-291) on Monday at the Forest Oaks Country Club (par 72 - 7,197 yards).
IU is just nine shots behind first place and No. 26 North Carolina 580 (294-286). The Tar Heels lead No. 32 Louisville (300-281) and No. 41 Kent State (293-288) bye one shot with Memphis (293-290) sitting in fourth place at 583.
The field features five teams ranked in the top 25, headlined by No. 11 Wake Forest, in addition to North Carolina, Louisville and Kent State. IU sits ahead of Wake Forest and No. 25 Arkansas.
Junior Seth Brandon bounced back from an opening 2-over-par 74 with an even-par 72 in round two to lead the Hoosiers at 146. Brandon finds himself in a tie for 16th, but just two shots out of the top 10. Louisville's Derek Fathauer leads the field at 6-under-par 138 (71-67).
Behind Brandon is junior Jorge Campillo at 147. Campillo also carded an even par in round two on the heels of an opening-round 75 to move into a share of 15th.
Allenspach was the third Hoosier to shoot 72 in the afternoon. He came back from a 4-over 76 in the morning session to finish at 148.
Making his first appearance in the Indiana lineup, true freshman Paul Park (81-75) shares seventh place at 156. Park also played as an individual at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate.
Indiana looks to make a move up the leaderboard in the final round on Tuesday morning. The field will tee of from the 1st and 10th tees beginning at 9:30 a.m. EDT. Fans can follow all the action live at www.golfstat.com.
