IU Men's Golf Takes Kiawah Island Title

The Indiana University men's golf team wrapped up the fall season with their second consecutive tournament title as they cruised to a 14-shot win at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Turtle Point Golf Course. The Hoosiers closed out play with an 11-over par 299 in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 877 (286-292-299).
Campbell finished as the runner-up with an 891 and the College of Charleston rounded out the top three with a 907.
Freshman David Mills led the way for the Hoosiers with a 2-over 218 (70-75-73) to finish tied for second. Mills finished two shots behind medalist Michael Young of Longwood.
Mills was joined by three Indiana teammates in the top-10. Sophomore Brant Peaper (68-69-82=219) and junior Chase Wright (74-73-72=219) each finished in a tie for fourth at 3-over. Junior David Erdy (74-75-72=221) fired a final round 72 to put him in a tie for eighth at 5-over. Erdy and Peaper lead the team with three top-ten finishes through five events this season.
Freshman Hugo Menendez (73-76-75=224), competing as an individual, finished in a tie for 11th after posting a final round 75 to finish at 8-over.
Sophomore Kyle Perry (78-75-82=235) tied for 39th after recording an 82 on Tuesday.
The Hoosiers will open the spring season at the Big Ten Match Play Championship on February 11-12 at Heron Bay GC in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
